Love Poem by a Builder

A very old poem and one I opened with for years. It’s still one of my favs.

Love Poem by a Builder

My arms are like this scaffolding, I was made to support you
And like the gentle sounds of the mixing drum, I'll be there to comfort you
I'll move mountains for you darlin' not just piles of dirt
If you'd just let me see a little further up your skirt

Like the oil slick on my daily fry-up, my love will swill around you
And staring at The Sun each day, I'll thank the Lord I found you
Tracy 19, Trixie 21 and even Busty Bev can all just sling their hook
'Long as you get your tits out for the lads and give us all a look

Just like this house our love will grow in increments, slowly brick by brick, steadily date by date
We'll be our own architects we can dream and plan to procreate
But right now just come and lie with me and be my love in this half built edifice
Looking out over the portaloos that stink of fetid piss

If I were a sculptor I'd carve you a life so beautiful you'd loose the power of speech
And I'd put you on a pedestal to keep you far from harm's reach
But right now just let me carry you into the house my love has made
And show you that its not just concrete, that can get badly laid
