When I thought love was coming my way

I am working on this song with a friend of mine, Sean Taylor. It’s a work in progress. The words keep changing but the impulse is the same.

Our Match didn’t catch and our spark didn’t light

So I’m leaving in the middle of the night

It’s five am and I’m pulling on my clothes

Didn’t think you’d be another one of those

So you can smoke all you want, go blow a line now and then

I’m leaving right now you won’t see me again

But I’ll write you poetry, that you’ll never get

Cry in shower and start to regret

All the things I wanted to, but just didn’t say

When I thought love was coming my way

There’s was something here and my god, it felt good

But you could do what you knew that you should

I danced with you, drank with you, took you to bed

Lay by your side, listening as you read

Watching another world come into view

Wanted you to love me, thought I could love you too

So you can smoke all you want now, go blow a line now and then

I’m leaving right now you won’t see me again

And I’ll write you poetry, that you’ll never get

cry in shower and I’ll start to regret

All the things I wanted to, but just didn’t say

When I thought love was coming my way

But you held yourself back and you kept yourself in

All the feelings you had they stayed under your skin

I couldn’t reach you I couldn’t get beneath

All those years of hurt, loss, grief

It’s a journey you think you have to do alone

But with all I had I willed you home

So you can smoke all you want now, go blow a line now and then

I’m leaving right now you won’t see me again

But I’ll write you poetry that you’ll never see

And time to time you’ll think fondly of me

And all the things I wanted to, but just didn’t say

When I thought love was coming my way
